Annual General Meeting

We welcome you to join us for our Annual General Meeting! Whether you’ve volunteered for one task, 10 years, 40 years, we welcome all volunteers to join us at the Mackintosh Sports Club, Keppoch St, just off City Road! The meeting will start at 7:30pm on Wednesday 30th October and will usually finish around 9:30pm.

Your support and feedback is very important to us so we will discuss forthcoming events, past events, fund raising and publicity as well as socialise and enjoy a drink with friends! A buffet will be provided for everyone!
There are also committee positions up for grabs for those who would like to get involved behind the scene.

Abergavenny

Join CCV on Sunday 17th November to learn the ancient skill of hedgelaying! Dust off and sharpen up those Billhooks ready for the first Hedgelaying of the season. We’ll be returning to the Farm on The Blorenge to finish off the hedge we started last year.

*****You can join us by ringing/texting 07450700214*****

NOTE! Do phone the leader or email in advance so we can make sure there’s enough space. Ian Gibblet will be leading the task.

PLEASE only RSVP if you are certain you can attend and let the leader know if you cannot make it for whatever reason as seats on the bus are limited and you would be denying another volunteer from coming out on task!

If you are already a member you can access the programme through our website and find out more information about who we are and what we do:

What to do and bring:

• Book with the relevant leader – Seats on the minibus are limited

• No experience necessary – All training is provided

• NOTE! Due to the long drive we will be meeting at Forest Farm outside the warden centre at 8am and meeting outside Cardiff Museum at 8:30am and driving straight to the site.

• It is possible to use your own transport and meet on site if easier but please confirm with the leader first

• Wear suitable outdoor clothing, sturdy boots and/or waterproofs

• Bring a packed lunch – We will provide the hot drinks and biscuits.

Hope to see you soon!

Please be aware that plans are subject to change at the discretion of the client.

Tools Repair Evening

We are holding a tools repair evening at Forest Farm Nature Reserve on Tuesday 12th November
We welcome anyone who is interested in learning how to re-handle billhooks/axes and repairing other broken tools. Rob Bronsdon will be on hand to show volunteers how it’s done. We’ll spend an evening fixing up broken tools, painting them nice colours and drinking tea.
No need to book – Just turn up outside the warden centre at 6:30pm!⚒

Radyr Woods

Join CCV on Sunday 10th November for coppicing trees in Radyr Woods! Coppicing is a form of woodland management that involves cutting down trees, leaving a stump about one foot high which allows new shoots to grow from the stump. This extends the life of the coppiced trees indefinitely.

This will be a large scale project of (temporary) devastation!! The will be a bonfire so don’t forget the marshmallows, sausages or any other food you want to cook on the fire! – Weather permitting.
