Coed y Felin

Join CCV on Sunday 27th January to help with part 2 of riverbank maintenance at Coed y Felin Woods in Lisvane! The bank is being eroded by the river and it is in danger of collapsing, so we will need to help prevent this from happening by filling the bank with postcrete to help support it and pack it with rocks and soil.

*****You can join us by ringing/texting 07450700214*****

NOTE! Do phone the leader or email in advance so we can make sure there’s enough space.

PLEASE only RSVP if you are certain you can attend and let the leader know if you cannot make it for whatever reason as seats on the bus are limited and you would be denying another volunteer from coming out on task!

If you are already a member you can access the programme through our website and find out more information about who we are and what we do.

What to do and bring:

• Book with the relevant leader – Seats on the minibus are limited

• No experience necessary – All training is provided

• Outside Cardiff Museum at 9am or outside the warden centre at Forest Farm in Whitchurch at 8:30am

• It is possible to use your own transport and meet on site if easier but please confirm with the leader first

• Wear suitable outdoor clothing, sturdy boots and/or waterproofs

• Bring a packed lunch – We will provide the hot drinks and biscuits.

Hope to see you soon!

Please be aware that plans are subject to change at the discretion of the client.

Cwm Nofydd

Happy New Year!
Join CCV for the first task of 2019 on Sunday 6th January to help with coppicing trees at Cwm Nofydd Woods (Coppicing is a form of woodland management that involves cutting down trees, leaving a stump about one foot high which allows new shoots to grow from the stump. This extends the life of the coppiced trees indefinitely)

New Year Walk!

It’s holiday time so you are invited to walk with CCV in some of the country’s most stunning scenery.

The walk is on Saturday 29th December and will start from Dinas Powys train Station and we will meet you on the platform at 10:07am.

For those of you driving – you can park on the Sunny croft estate CF64 4TX – plenty of room neighbours don’t like you parking outside their houses so best park on the main drag

We can also arrange pick up in the minibus outside Forest Farm Country Park, Whitchurch at 8:30am or Cardiff museum at 9am – Please let us know which you would prefer!

The itinerary for the day is:

– 10am- meet Dinas Powys train station 29th December.

– 10:15 – Walk the salmon leaps http://www.visitthevale.com/en/Be-Inspired/Walking/Vale-Trails/Salmon-Leaps-Walk.aspx. And other places.

– 4pm Finish

– Up the pub to eat ( also a fish and chip shop should be open for those who want to dine al fresco.)

– Same rules of the day as a task day – wear suitable outdoor clothing!

– Very welcome to bring your own food

– Please contact the Facebook page for more information on how to book!

Hope to see you there!
